Abstract
Primary aldosteronism is a clinical syndrome characterized by hypertension, potassium (K) wasting with hypokalemia, increased production of aldosterone, and suppression of ronin, We report one case of primary aldosteronism which is confirmed by
captopril test.
A 39-year-old woman was admitted because of chest pain and headache. On admission her blood pressure was 200/100mmHg and ECG revealed ST depression in II, III, aVF with left ventricular hypertrophy. Serum potassium concentration was 2.4mEq/L,
basal
plasma renin activity (PRA) and plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) were 0.39ng/ml/hr, 96ng/dl respectively Abdominal CT revealed left adrenal mass. Under the impression of primary aldosteronism she underwent left adrenalectomy and her blood
pressure
returned to normal after surgery. Pathologic result was cortical adenoma.
